NovelDraft · In active development
Terms of Service
Last updated: 2 October 2026
1. About NovelDraft and these terms
These Terms of Service apply when you access or use NovelDraft, including its website, writing desk, account features, and related services (the “Service”). In these Terms, “NovelDraft”, “we”, and “us” refer to the NovelDraft service and its operator.
NovelDraft is in active development. The legal name and address of the operating entity will be added here when the company structure is established, before a public commercial launch. This page describes the current development service and is not a substitute for that final legal review.
2. Your account
You are responsible for keeping your sign-in details secure, providing accurate account information, and activity carried out through your account. Tell us promptly if you believe someone has accessed it without permission.
You may update your account details or request account deletion from your profile. Account deletion removes your NovelDraft account and related application records. Manuscript files already saved to your Google Drive or Dropbox are not automatically removed; manage or delete those files in Google Drive.
3. Your writing and other content
You keep ownership of stories, manuscripts, notes, and other material you create or upload (“Your Content”). These Terms do not transfer ownership of Your Content to NovelDraft.
You give NovelDraft a limited, non-exclusive permission to receive, store, display, convert, and transmit Your Content only as needed to operate the features you use, protect the Service, and provide support you request. This permission ends when the relevant content is removed from the Service, subject to the retention described in the Privacy Policy and any copies that remain in your Google Drive or Dropbox or service backups.
You are responsible for Your Content and for keeping copies that matter to you. NovelDraft is a writing tool, not a guaranteed backup service. Check that saves and exports completed, and keep an independent backup of important work.
AI Assistance is optional and off by default. When you enable it, relevant manuscript passages, notes and any conversation context you allow are processed by your chosen model. Local Ollama processing runs on your computer; a cloud provider processes requests under its own terms. AI can make mistakes. Its suggestions require your judgment and do not automatically change your manuscript.
4. Cloud storage and other services
Larger manuscripts, chapters, AI archives and Revision require connected Google Drive or Dropbox storage. The storage provider’s own terms and privacy rules apply. You can revoke NovelDraft’s access through that provider’s account settings. Revoking access prevents cloud features from working until you reconnect.
Google Drive access uses the per-file drive.file permission. Dropbox must use an App Folder application, so access is limited to NovelDraft’s app folder. Existing novels remain linked to their original provider when you change the preferred storage for new novels.
Third-party services are provided under their own terms. NovelDraft is not responsible for services we do not operate, but we will take reasonable steps to explain the integrations used by the Service.
5. Acceptable use
You may not use the Service to:
- break the law or violate another person’s rights;
- interfere with, damage, probe, or gain unauthorized access to the Service or another account;
- distribute malware, spam, or material that you have no right to use;
- scrape, overload, or automate access in a way that disrupts the Service or other users.
6. Development, availability, and changes
NovelDraft is under active development. Features, interfaces, integrations, storage arrangements, and these Terms may change as the product is built. We may add, change, pause, or discontinue parts of the Service, and we may set reasonable usage limits to keep it secure and usable.
We will publish revised Terms with a new date. For a material change affecting existing users, we will provide reasonable notice and obtain renewed agreement where applicable law requires it. If you do not agree to a change, stop using the affected Service and you may delete your account. Nothing in this section removes rights that applicable law gives you.
We aim to keep the Service available, but do not promise uninterrupted access, error-free operation, or that every feature will remain available. Development features may change or be removed.
7. Suspension and account closure
You may stop using NovelDraft and delete your account at any time. We may restrict or suspend access when reasonably necessary to address a security issue, unlawful use, a serious breach of these Terms, or a risk to users or the Service. Where practical and lawful, we will explain the reason and give you a chance to address it.
When an account closes, application records are handled as described in the Privacy Policy. Content in your own Google Drive may remain there and may need to be removed separately.
8. Disclaimers and liability
To the extent permitted by law, the Service is provided during development on an “as available” basis. We do not warrant that it will meet every requirement, remain available, or preserve every file without error.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including any mandatory consumer rights. Subject to that, NovelDraft is not responsible for indirect or consequential loss, loss caused by third-party services, or loss of content that you could reasonably have protected with a separate copy. Any liability limits required by the law that applies to you continue to apply.
9. Governing law and contact
The governing law and dispute forum will be stated here when NovelDraft’s operating entity and place of establishment are finalized. Mandatory protections that apply where you live are not removed by this section.
Questions about these Terms can be sent to support@noveldraft.com.
